Kerygma

If I were to describe this day by using just a word, no contest it would be "WET". One month's worth of rainfall poured in in just nine hours. We're lucky the flood water reached only up to our ankles and ruined not a single appliance in our household. I just feel bad seeing all these people lose their investments and worse their own lives. So what am I to do on a wet Sunday morning aside from playing with my willy? I switched on my TV and watched Kerygma. (And I know I don't look like I'm the type of guy who watches these kind of shows on a Sunday morning but believe me, I am.)

Nothing special, Bro. Bo, with his usual deep, thunder-like voice in a very persuasive way gave lectures. It was about dealing with problems and why problems exist. According to him, 90% of the time, if we pray to God, God will help us solve our problems. He will protect us and lead us not astray. The remaining 10% we solve by ourselves to teach us how to deal with "life". It was something to that effect and I'm not sure anymore. He used an analogy that if God gave us a "shield-like" bubble that will protect us from all harm, what would be the sense of life? Which in a way is very logical. I mean, how else would we learn to deal with "life" if we are to live inside a "protective shell" far from any danger. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not saying that we should endanger ourselves and put our lives in peril to learn things. People, there is a thing called "pre-concieved" knowledge where you learn from others' experiences. What I am saying though, going back to my point, is we should experience things first hand by interacting with people, socializing or by simply going out with friends. Anyway, these things have nothing to do with this entry so let's move on...

The Story of Jack, Rose and Titanic

Jack, as all telenovelas go, came from a poor family. He's smart though, persistent and hard-working. On the other hand, Rose is from a wealthy family, her dad, a very mild-mannered, and good-hearted man, is a landlord and her mom, same as her dad, a lawyer. Jack and Rose went to the same school only because Jack is a "scholar" and Rose, being an only daughter, wasn't allowed to go study in the city. I'm going to fast forward this story a little bit since I'm getting a little bored now. The two fell in love, started dating and in the end promised to marry each other. Every Sunday Jack will go to Rose's mansion to pay her a visit. He is of course welcomed by her parents whole heartedly. He was served Orange or Lemon juice, was given biscuits and was entertained warmly. This went on for about five years until they reached the age of 18.

One Sunday afternoon, as Jack enters the mansion, he saw a guy sitting with Rose's family. He was tall, obviously rich and speaks with a certain air of confidence and prestige. He was Titanic, as he was introduced by Rose's dad. From that point everything changed. Jack started to notice small things he never even give a damn before. He noticed his glass is half filled while Titanic's is almost filled to the brim. Rose's dad spend more time interviewing Titanic, Rose's mom beams with excitement everytime Titanic's car enters the driveway, sometimes, she even waits for him infornt of their big, wooden front door. It's just no longer the same. He blamed his family, himself, even God for being born to a poor family. He promised himself that one day, Rose, along with her family, will regret not treating him the way they treated his adversary. He went to the city to seek his fortune without even telling a soul where he is going.

After five years Jack is now a businessman with an asset worth a billion pesos. He is into real estate, with his wit and charm, Jack virtually closed every deal which in turn sky rocketed his career. One lousy afternoon, Jack received a call from a friend, who, he assigned to work in his hometown, it was really a business move but the reason partly is for him to spy on what's happening with his lost love. Rose is now getting married. Shocked by the news, he went home to attend the wedding. He intentionally arrived late. As he walk up the stairs of the church the double doors swung wide open, he saw old friends, old faces and new. As the new couple walked out, down to their rented limo. Their eyes met, astonished, Jack froze as Rose and her husband walked past him, all she managed to say was "You're late." Tears fell.

What Jack didn't know was when he went away, Rose did all she can to find him. She cried for him, bitter tears of sadness and fear. Fear that she may not be able to see him again. She loved Jack, he loved Rose but it wasn't enough reason for him to conquer his fear. He chose to ran away and start anew. He won partly, he did succeed but lost the love of his life.

He's happily married now. He's got everything that he could wish for, a loving wife and two beautiful kids, a boy and a girl. He doubled his market value in a span of four years. As he recount everything that happened to him, he just smiled and softly whispered "Thank you." as a solitary tear rolled down his cheek.

-End-

I turned off the TV, lit a cig and blew happy smoke of inspiration. I just knew why he said thank you. I knew it! We may have different interpretations but I'm happy with mine and I'm not sharing it with you. :P
